Happy New Year

Well we have survived Christmas at the Dahlke home. The kids got all they ever wanted and more. While mom and dad got the best Christmas ever. The kids were all in bed and asleep by 9:15. That is really good considering we were out having a party at Grandpa and Grandma Peters' place till 9:00! We had a wonderful time Christmas eve. The fondue dinner was delish and the entertainment was fantastic. The manger scene in the barn with baby Kye was the icing on the cake. And the costumes were just the right touch.

After Christmas we were able to go to Grandpa and Grandma Dahlke's place in freezing cold Idaho. Somehow the kids were brave enough to strap on the winter cloths and brave the 6 foot high snowdrifts for a day of sledding. They had so much fun.

It has really been nice to have Jared home for a while this holiday season. Jared has been working here in Salt Lake over the past couple weeks. But after the New Year it is back on the road for Jared, and back to school for Braydon. That means back to the swing of things for Jody. It has been so relaxing for me with everyone home and no place to go.

Merry Christmas to all

I hope this letter finds you all well and in good spirits. We here are at the Dahlke Household have been having so much fun this year. So much fun in fact that I am two steps behind everyone and in everything. I am usually so organized and have things all thought out about the holidays, and to tell you the truth I keep thinking that if I just wait a bit more they will be over. So I have to make our letter short and sweet this year. I hope you don't mind.

Jared is on the retirement plan for the nursery at church. He is going on 4 years now. I just don't know that it pays a whole lot in the end. Those kids sure love him though. Jared is still working for Union Pacific. He is on the traveling gang and is gone a lot.

With that Braydon thinks because he is 5 now he is the man of the house when dad is gone. It is great most of the time. But you can only imagine the things those two come up with. Including ridding the bikes down the stairs. (I just don't remember doing that one when I was little.) Or flooding Grandma Dahlke's bathroom. Braydon is in preschool this year. He is doing so well. And he loves his teachers and friends so much.

Speaking of double trouble. T.J. is keeping mom so busy. He loves to drive me crazzzzy!!! There is not one day that I don't have to call Jared and tell him what the latest scheme he has devised. He is so active that I have just come to accept there is really nothing I can do about it. That is just the way he is. Thank goodness for nap time!

One great thing that happened to us this year was the new addition to our family. Kye was born on June 4. He has been such a light into our family. Anyone who sees him just can't help but smile. I can't believe it has been 6 months already. He is starting to roll over and play with the toys.

I am a very busy mom of three boys. Need I say more. I am also the Activity Days advisor to the 8 and 9 year old girls in the ward. I guess that is the closest I will get to having girls.

With this holiday season here so fast this year we have been thinking a lot about the birth of the savior and what that means to us. I am so grateful for the sacrifice and example the savior gave to me. The Savior gave so much and expects so little in return. I hope you too will take time to think about and reflect on what He has given to you this holiday season. We love you all and want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very happy and fruitful new year.

Meet the Toads

Buba, T.J., and Baby Kye

Braydon (or Buba) is the oldest. He turned 5 in October. He is to say the least hell on wheels! From the day he was born he has been going 1,000 miles per hour and not looking back. He is so smart and fun to do things with. He is starting to read, tell time, and count money. Pretty smart for only being in preschool. His favorite thing in the world are super heroes. You name the super hero and he can tell you the power they have and the enemies they defeat. Braydon loves to also play the PSP, his computer, and the leapfrog. His favorite game is, you guessed it, spider man. He also loves to go fishing with his dad. Braydon got a fishing pole for his birthday. Of course it is spider man!!! On a recent trip to the pond he told his dad he was trying to be patient and catch a fish. For Braydon this is a huge undertaking. So dad let him fish just a bit longer than dad wanted to be there. Braydon is a wonderful big brother, and there are so many times that I look at him and know why he was chosen to come to our family first. He has such a kind heart and a willingness to teach his little brothers all he knows.

Trey (or T.J. as we call him) is second. He is in those terrible twos. And by terrible I mean horrible, awful, and downright nasty twos!!! He is starting to know his colors, letters, and he can count to 12 by himself. There for a while I was wondering if he was even listening to me, and one day he just had it. T.J. loves to be outside on his bike, in the sand box, and running around. Some of his obsessions are cars, motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and tractors. All of which involve keys. So lock your doors and hide the keys because he will find them and he does know how they work!!! One of his favorite things to do is mow the lawn with dad. He sits on the tractor and just goes and goes and goes. T.J. also loves to sing. He knows all the words to the Bee song, the alphabet song, the Turtle song, the fish song, the monkey song, the alligator song, the duck song, the snowman song, and the popcorn song. T.J. also loves to fish. He too has his own pole that he loves to carry around with him. He asks dad every weekend if he can go to the pond and fish. He has a very kind heart and loves his brothers so much.

Kye (or baby Kye in our house) is the newest addition. He was born in June. He is the best baby anyone could ask for. He is so much fun to have. He giggles and laughs all the time. He is starting to rock and roll a bit, and soon will be all over and just one of the boys. One of our favorite time during the day is tummy time. He is getting so good at laying on his tummy. He gets to look around and see us all from a different point of view. Kye has a really good grip too. He loves to reach out for things and grab on. One of his favorite things to grab is his blanket. It always ends up in his mouth. No matter if it is far and out of reach, he can always manage to get a hold of it. He just loves the feel of the fabric in his mouth. Kye has the sweetest smile. It just melts any ones heart. He loves his brothers so much. He giggles and laughs every time they walk into the room.
