Camille has a really great recipe for home made granola bars. This uses my food storage, and it looks really good. I need to try it. Thanks for sharing Camille!

Kye just broke tooth number 5. That makes two for the top, and three on the bottom. Go Kye! A few more and perhaps mom will stop cutting everything up and let you take big bites like your brothers.

Slip N' Slide

So for the 24th of July we were going to go to my Uncle Darrel and Aunt Becky's place for a slip N' slide party. They live in Centerville on the bench. In their yard they have a huge hill perfect for slip N' slide. We also were going to help Kevin and Jenna move into their new place in Layton. We had planed too many things for one day so the slip N' slide party got pushed right out. The kids were so bummed! So I said we have some plastic in the basement, and a hose with a sprinkler...Jared said it was worth a try. We stopped in to Home Depot for some long nails to anchor the plastic down, and you can see the blast they had! T.J. had a BLAST!

The Garden of FAITH

This summer I have really worked hard on our garden. The kids bless it in every prayer so we call it the garden of FAITH. So one morning the kids wanted to run through the sprinklers so I thought I would let them get wet while I weeded a bit. I had just watered the whole garden so pulling weeds would be EASY. I started in on the corn when from the other end of the garden I could hear some cute giggles. I poked my head up, but I could no longer see the kids. I stood up, and could see that they had worked their way once again into the mud. They were doing army ops in my CORN! What imaginations they have!!! Braydon Cohen, and T.J.

SANDcastles

The boys could spend hours in the sand this summer. Braydon and T.J. have come up with some really good Sandcastles this year. They are so proud of their creations! Braydon in all his glory

We have the best neighbors around. They invited us to their fireworks show! We had lit our fireworks off the previous night at grandpa and grandma Peters house. So we just went to watch. The kids all had so much fun! We have discovered Braydon is a bit of a pyro! Braydon and his dad always put on one heck of a show! Sparklers were the biggest hit for everyone

4th of July PARADE

This year we went to Centerville for breakfast and to the parade for the 4th of July. Grandpa Peters has been working on a float for the past few months, and it was entered into the Centerville parade for a trial run before the big Salt Lake Parade on the 24th of July. So we thought we would go check it out! It was the BEST one in the whole parade. It was called A Storytellers Vision. It had a wizard telling the forest animals a story. The detail and everything was so cute. Right down to the frog on the back kicking it's feet with the words The End on them. It was so good. The forest animals

Braydon loved the candy as well. He informed me that the next parade we HAD to bring a sack for it all!

Kye caught on really quick to the candy as well. Mom had to pull him away from the parade because he kept crawling out into the street to get the taffy!

Temple Open House

So we are so fortunate to live so close to TWO new temples. Our family took the opportunity to go visit both in the open house. We had such a great experience at both! I think the kids just liked the cookies and water they gave after. But in the Draper Temple the look on Braydon's face as we entered the Celestial room was PRICELESS! He was just in AWE. So when we went to the Oquirrh Mountain open house a few weeks later we talked about what he had remembered. It was the big Chandler in the Celestial room. So this time I was able to talk a bit more about the spirit that he felt there. He told me he could feel Gods spirit in his heart. It is so amazing to me how sweet my kids hearts are and how child like we need to become. Draper Temple

Mud!

We had a very wet spring this year. As a matter a fact it was kinda hit and miss as to whether or not we were going to dry out enough to plant the garden! Jared and I thought that since the ground was so MOIST that it would be soft enough to lay the ties around the rest of the garden and finish defining the edges. A few days latter the secondary water came on. Because it was so rainy we didn't even bother turning our water on. To our surprise we got this puddle in our garden! I was cursing myself for putting in the ties because now we had created a dam in our garden and the water could no longer drain out and our garden would never get planted! The rains quit, and then I started noticing a few things out on the street. The city had not adjusted the watering times for the trees out on the main street. So I waited, and waited, and waited for them to come turn them off. Obviously they knew the water was on, and would eventually get around to turning off the water running down the street and into my garden! But the puddle just kept growing, and growing, and growing. You see they were doing construction up the street all winter for the secondary water. So when I finally called the city for the water problem GROWING in by back yard, they told me I had to contact Weber Water (the secondary water people). I tried to explain to them that it had nothing to do with the construction, but it was their valves that were not shutting off. 2 days latter the water was finally turned off. All the while I was bathing my kids three times a day from all the mud. But they did have so much fun! T.J. knee deep!

The kids have been having so much fun in SUMMER REC this year. Mom was thinking that they needed something to do to keep busy so we signed up! Braydon signed up for tumbling, crafts, itty bitty ball and adventure camp. T.J. took dance, kid fitness, adventure camp, and itty bitty ball. They are then going to SUMMER LITERACY as well!

Dance was a total bust for T.J. When I signed him up I looked at the list, and there was another boy in there that was 3. Unfortunately Charley is also a girls name! So cute shy T.J. was outnumbered and feeling very uncomfortable. It wasn't till the last two times did he break a move!

Itty Bitty Ball is 3 times of Soccer and 3 times of T-Ball. T.J. did great in both. He got over his shyness and they couldn't get him to bring the ball back! They had to chase him clear down the field to the fence to get him to return. Hitting the ball was piece of cake for him too. Thanks to dad and all the practice in the back 40. T.J. has one heck of a pitching arm too! Braydon is doing great here as well. He loves all kinds of sports. He loves the drills and comes home and practices all they worked on. Jared helps him with his technique when he is home on the weekends. One day he will be able to win for sure!

Tumbling was a great experience for Braydon. He learned how to do his first cartwheel. Now I can't get him to stop! He is constantly practicing his somersaults in a row, handstands, and cartwheels.

Adventure camp is totally cool. Braydon's favorite was looking for treasure, and dinosaurs. They also talked about animals and the Animal Control came to talk about rescuing animals. They even brought along some friends! They went on an adventures with seasons (T.J.'s favorite!), bodies, and much more. What fun they have!

Crafts is by far one of the funnest things Braydon has been able to do. They make the cutest things. It is hard for Braydon to sit still long enough for the instruction of how to make the crafts, because he gets so excited to make the craft. He loves it though!

Kid fitness has been the most rewarding class for T.J. hands down! They are teaching the kids all kinds of games. Jump rope, tag, relay races, and parachutes are some of his favorite. Do you remember all the fun things we used to play before computers? He is loving every moment!

Summer Literacy is one of the greatest things thought of by Woods Cross City. It is all FREE, and it is all about reading. Each week there is a different theme, and all the books are centered around that theme. The kids are read a story, do a craft, and get a snack! They also from time to time get a free book! Imagine one week they talked about the military. The army came and talked to the kids about the army and brought a HumV! The kids were read stories about our county, and the military. For the craft the kids wrote THANKYOU notes to the men and women who serve our country. How cool was that. The kids are still talking about the hummer. They have done similar things for Dr. Seuss, Pioneers, Music, Communities (with the fire department and police man), and many more. What a great program.

Kye and mom get special time together for and hour every day. He loves the swings, and we often take a ball of our own to the park. The parks we go to are right around the corner so we are able to ride our bikes sometimes. Kye loves to ride in the trailer behind mom!

Woods Cross is such a great place to live with all the great programs and parks. We have certainly loved all the fun stuff this summer!

Glue

About a month ago I was at my mom's for sunday dinner. We were finished with dinner, and the older kids were all outside. It was about 7:30pm and I was in the kitchen cooking up a brownie creation to serve for Paige's upcoming baby shower when I heard Kye crying in the family room. Not thinking it was serious I let the adults in the room take care of it. Teresa brought him in saying he had fallen and was poopy, and I went to get a diaper. She gave him a kiss on the cheek to make it all better. Then started spitting to the side and saying GROSE!

We had not noticed the cut before, but the blood was coming freely now. I grabed a tussue, and took him to the other room to change him. Upon wiping the blood from his ear I discovered the GASH was very deep, and not wanting to stop! I asked what has happened, and they said he was standing at the glass door in the big room, and just tipped over! Kye is just starting to get himself mobile on his feet and was still very unstable. The only thing we can think of is that he hit his ear on the rusted out milk can my mom used for a planter. Because of the amount of rust on the can and the depth of the cut (not to mention I couldn't get it to stop bleeding!) I chose to take him to Insta Care for stitches. Upon arrival and Insta care there was no one in the waiting room. Amazing and what a relief! They told me they could do nothing for an ear, but would let the doctor look at it anyway. The doctor came out to the waiting room, and sent me straight to Primary Children's Medical Center. Yes, I had to go to the Hospital for a cut on the ear. Apparently they don't do ears at Insta Care. At least I didn't have to pay a copay at Insta Care!

I arrived at PCMU at 8:45pm. Yes we are now pushing past bed time. When I checked in they told me they would have to put Kye out to give him the stitches, and that he couldn't have anything to eat or drink. GREAT! My milk was coming in, and he was getting very sleepy and cranky! Everyone was very nice there. The service was slow, but they were all very nice. To my relief we didn't have to have a tetanus shot, and no stitches! They just glued it all back together with the supper glue! Mom's panic was really nothing, but a late night, and glue. We got home at midnight. Thanks to Grandma Peters for saving the older two and getting them back to bed.

2nd Anual Hobo Party 2009

We had the best Hobo party this year. My kids are still talking about it. As a matter a fact there is a pair of miss matched flip flops at our house that have been nicknamed the hobo sandals. The kids had so much fun! Costume contest at the train station. Are they not so cute hobo's?
